In mid 2008, seven members that had left the 7th Calvary Division =7CAV=, and created and formed the 36th Infantry Division. Under the command of Major General Mitchell the unit continued to grow until there was a command change and the unit was re-flagged to the 101st Airborne Division under new a Division Command Brigadier General J, Oebel. The unit chosen was one of great history and a bright future ahead.
In March 2009 the 4th Ranger Battalion [4RB] decided to merge with the 101st Airborne Division. The rangers were a small group but would become so of the highest leaders in the 101st Airborne Division. Bringing some our very Battalion staff we hold today including Brigadier General T, Jonin, and Major B, Cannon. They continue to bring excellence to the 101st and are some of the most loyal soldiers that have ever served under the 101st Airborne Division.
In ********* the 101st Airborne Division funded a project for a sister unit, the 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team. Led by 101st's Captain L, Coleman, they were to be the sister unit of the 101st Airborne Division for Arma 2. After growing quite steadily and building a name from themselves they had a change of command that took place. Under the new command of Captain R, Garley, the unit changed their name to the 1st Special Forces Group. On November 16th 2009 the 1st Special Forces Group merged into the 101st Airborne Division and were assigned as our Special Forces Operational Detachment 648. With this merger we a gained gained a few keen individuals who have brought this unit where it is today including our logistics commander Major R, Garley. Also one of our pilots Chief Warrant Officer 4 T, Sell.
After this took place the unit continued to grow to where it is today. We have had our hardships just like any other unit but still we stand. We have grown together as a brotherhood and to this day we stand strong. With any problem that may rise the 101st is ready to rise to the occasion. Almost two years later the unit would undergo another big change.
On October 27th 2011 the 101st Airborne Division made the decision to merge into the 10th Mountain Division [10MD] under the command of Brigadier General A, Plumbly. The unit was rising quickly when divisions in command lead to the end of the 10th Mountain Division. Leaving the prior 101st Airborne Division members to return home and bring with them many new soldiers and officers alike. We also gained a new ally in to our brotherhood the 11th Special Forces Group =11th=.
On November 22nd 2011 the 101st Airborne Division returned home stronger then ever. to this day we are a better unit because of the many great people we met and have joined our brotherhood since our merge with the 10th Mountain Division. We continue to build and grow in size. But will forever remain a brotherhood of soldiers. No matter our size we will remain loyal to each other and be loyal to the 101st Airborne Division.
